Suspected Hitman Arrested in Yumbo for Esoteric-Motivated Double Murder

Colombian police have apprehended a 27-year-old suspect, alias "Brandon," in Yumbo, Valle del Cauca, for his alleged role in the May 1 murders of Yoselin Fernanda Samboní Prado and her mother, Hercilia Prado. The victims were shot inside their home in Vijes.

The arrest followed an investigation lasting less than 50 days. According to authorities, the suspect entered the victims' residence armed and fired indiscriminately. The younger victim, 28, died at the scene, while her 59-year-old mother was taken to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Investigators are exploring the possibility that the double homicide was motivated by esoteric beliefs. They also suspect the attack may have been orchestrated by "Alias Guajirito," a figure involved in drug trafficking in the Yumbo area, who took over a criminal structure after the death of "Alias Guajiro" in 2022.

During the arrest, police seized a mobile phone for forensic analysis, which they hope will help identify any accomplices and clarify the circumstances of the crime. Alias Brandon has been handed over to the Attorney General's Office and faces charges of aggravated homicide and illegal possession of firearms.
