Suspected La Unión Tepito member 'El Ramsés' arrested in Mexico City for brother's murder

Mexican authorities have apprehended Carlos Ramsés “N”, known as “El Ramsés”, a figure linked to the notorious La Unión Tepito cartel. The arrest, carried out by agents of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), followed an arrest warrant for the qualified homicide of his own brother.

The 30-year-old suspect is under investigation for his alleged involvement in the murder of Jorge Jonathan Galicia Castillo. The victim was shot and killed on May 24, 2024, in the Morelos neighborhood of Mexico City's Cuauhtémoc borough. Evidence gathered by authorities reportedly links Carlos Ramsés “N” to the fatal assault.

Following intelligence and surveillance operations, the SSC identified the suspect's operational area in the Gustavo A. Madero borough. Discreet surveillance led to his location and arrest on August 11 in the Residencial Zacatenco neighborhood. The Secretary of Citizen Security, Pablo Vázquez, stated that investigations also link the detainee to a criminal group involved in drug trafficking in the city center.

This arrest is part of a broader crackdown on violent crime. The SSC reported that between July and the present, 59 alleged members of the Unión de Tepito and Anti-Unión cartels have been detained, highlighting an ongoing dispute between these criminal factions.
