SUV overtakes bus, hits dump truck in Incheon; 1 seriously injured

A multi-vehicle collision in Incheon, South Korea, left one person seriously injured after an SUV driver attempted to overtake a tourist bus. The incident occurred on the evening of June 29 in the Dangha-dong area of Seo-gu.

The driver, identified as a man in his 30s referred to as 'A', was traveling in the third lane of the road in his sports utility vehicle (SUV). While attempting to pass a tourist bus in the second lane, 'A' collided with a dump truck that was stopped in the same lane.

The impact caused the SUV to then strike the side of the tourist bus, which was in the first lane. The bus subsequently lost its balance and collided with a Spark passenger car also traveling in the first lane.

'A' sustained serious injuries to his back and was transported to a hospital. The drivers of the bus and the Spark, along with the nine passengers on the bus, were reported to have escaped serious harm. Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident, suspecting a violation of safe driving obligations by 'A'. Insurance claim procedures are expected to follow.
