Suwon offers affordable, furnished apartments for youth

Suwon City is launching an innovative housing support policy called 'Sae Bit Youth Zone,' offering 587 fully furnished studio apartments in prime locations near subway stations. These apartments aim to alleviate the burden of rising rental costs for young people in the region.

The 'Sae Bit Youth Zone' apartments are situated within a five-minute walk of major transit hubs like Suwon City Hall Station and Seryu Station, offering convenience and access to amenities. Each unit, measuring 22-25 square meters, comes equipped with essential furniture and built-in appliances, including a wardrobe, desk, washing machine, and refrigerator, allowing immediate move-in without additional purchases. Some units feature movable partitions or separate doors to create distinct living and sleeping areas.

The most attractive feature is the significantly lower rental cost compared to market prices. While nearby apartments typically rent for $600-$700 USD per month with a $10,000 USD deposit, 'Sae Bit Youth Zone' offers rents starting at approximately $257 USD for general youth and $212 USD for youth receiving basic livelihood or housing benefits, with deposits of $2,000 USD and $1,000 USD, respectively. Rent can be further reduced by increasing the deposit amount.

Suwon City is prioritizing 70% of the available units for specific groups within Suwon. This includes young individuals leaving multi-child family support programs, those transitioning from independent living support facilities, young entrepreneurs who have established businesses in Suwon, and local young artists. Applications for the first batch of 141 units near Suwon City Hall Station are open until August 28, targeting unmarried youth aged 19-39 residing in Suwon with specific income and asset limitations.
