Sweden’s Queen Silvia to visit Lake Constance island in October

Queen Silvia of Sweden is due back on Mainau island in October, where she will attend a ceremony marking 10 years of the Mentor Foundation.

The queen is expected at the main event on October 8. A day earlier, on October 7, she is scheduled to attend another event in Constance. Matthias Ehret, the foundation's executive board member and managing director, confirmed the planned visit when asked. Further details of the program were not initially available.

The visit brings Silvia back to a place she already knows. The Heidelberg-born monarch last visited Mainau in 2023 for a rose baptism organized for the Mentor Foundation.

The organization works to support children and young people. Its connection with Silvia dates to the movement's beginnings. According to the foundation's website, she co-founded the international Mentor Initiative with the World Health Organization in 1994. The initiative aims to strengthen young people and protect them from social isolation. The German foundation was established on Mainau in 2016.
