Swedish coach Tommy Samuelsson to lead Danish ice hockey team

The Danish men's ice hockey team has appointed Swedish coach Tommy Samuelsson to lead the national squad, filling the vacancy left by Mikael Gath in May.

Morten Green, elite chief and general manager for the national team, expressed confidence in Samuelsson's appointment. "It is an important time for the national team to gain new experience and fresh perspectives," Green stated. "With Tommy, we get a coach who has won at the highest level and knows what it takes to develop a team over time."

Samuelsson brings a wealth of experience, having coached for 27 years at top levels in Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. His most recent role was with Timrå in Sweden's top league. He is eager to take on the challenge of coaching a national team.

Samuelsson is familiar with Danish ice hockey, having worked with many Danish players in Sweden. He noted their natural talent, technical skill, and good game understanding. The 66-year-old coach will officially begin his duties on August 1st.
