Swedish Economy Slows Down

Sweden's economy showed signs of slowing in June, with preliminary figures indicating a 0.2 percent decrease in GDP compared to the preceding month. This marks a pause in growth after three consecutive months of expansion.

However, the overall economic picture for the second quarter remains positive. GDP for the quarter as a whole was 1.4 percent higher than in the previous quarter. "The Swedish economy declined slightly in June after three months of continuous growth," said Mattias Kain Wyatt, an economist at Statistics Sweden (SCB), in a press release. "The strong development in previous periods means that economic activity for both June and the second quarter as a whole is clearly above corresponding periods last year, despite the recent decline."

The report from SCB, which provides preliminary GDP indicators, suggests that while the June figures show a dip, the underlying trend for the year remains robust. The economy is performing at levels significantly higher than in the same periods of the previous year, indicating resilience despite the recent slowdown.
