The Polish star secured her spot in the title match after a challenging contest that saw her rally from a break down in the decisive third set. Swiatek will now face Elena Rybakina, who defeated Coco Gauff 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 in the other semifinal, for the championship. This U.S. Open tune-up event marks Swiatek's first final appearance this year. The match in Toronto, delayed by rain, saw Swiatek take the opening set. However, Svitolina responded strongly in the second, breaking Swiatek twice to level the match. In the final set, Svitolina broke to lead 3-2, but Swiatek, the 2022 U.S. Open champion, won the last four games to clinch the victory. "After that second set I knew I had to do everything I could to get my rhythm and my game back," Swiatek told Tennis Channel.
