Swimmer dies at Ammolofoi beach in Kavala, Greece

A 65-year-old woman from Bulgaria has died after experiencing distress while swimming at Ammolofoi beach in Kavala, Greece. The woman was pulled from the water unresponsive midday by the lifeguard on duty.

Rescuers from the Hellenic Center for Emergency Health and Care (EKAV) quickly arrived at the scene and administered first aid. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed, but unfortunately, it yielded no response. The woman was transported by ambulance to the Kavala General Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead despite all efforts.

The Central Port Authority of Kavala has taken charge of the preliminary investigation into the incident. They are working to understand the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy. Additionally, authorities have requested an autopsy from the Forensic Service of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace to establish the precise cause of the woman's death.
