Syam Ghaz Appointed New Director-General of Malaysia's J-Kom; Ismail Moves to Prime Minister's Office

Hisyamuddin Ghazali, a political and community activist widely known as Syam Ghaz, has been appointed as the new Director-General of the Community Communications Department (J-Kom) in Malaysia. The announcement was made by the Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil, during the Ministry's monthly assembly.

Fahmi Fadzil expressed gratitude to the outgoing Director-General, Datuk Ismail Yusop, for his service and welcomed Syam Ghaz to his new leadership role at J-Kom. Ismail Yusop is set to begin his new responsibilities at the Prime Minister's Office.

"I just want to take this opportunity to first thank Datuk Ismail who has been called for a new task by the Prime Minister's Office and welcome brother Syam Ghaz who has been chosen to lead the Communications Unit (J-Kom)," Fahmi stated.

Prior to this appointment, Syam Ghaz held a position within the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN). His predecessor, Datuk Ismail Yusop, led J-Kom for just over a year. The position was previously held by Mohd Khairuddin Othman, whose term ended in September 2023. Before that, Mohd Khairuddin, also the Selangor PKR Secretary, served as Director-General of J-Kom starting March 1, 2023, filling a vacancy left by Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusof.
