Sydney Fugitive Arrested in Lebanon Accused of Directing Global Crime Syndicate

Fugitive George Dib, long suspected of orchestrating a global organized crime syndicate, has been apprehended in Lebanon. Australian Federal Police (AFP) stated that Dib is accused of brokering and organizing numerous drug shipments to Australia over the last 11 years, acting on behalf of various international criminal organizations.

He is suspected of brokering and organising multiple drug shipments to Australia on behalf of a wide range of criminal syndicates from around the world during the past 11 years.

Dib, the son of a respected service station owner, first came to law enforcement's attention in 2013 before disappearing. He was previously suspected of involvement with the "Aussie Cartel," which was dismantled in Turkey in 2023. However, an intelligence file from the NSW Crime Commission suggests Dib played a key role in a different offshore drug conglomerate.

According to the report, Dib allegedly joined forces with other Lebanese fugitives, including Bilal Haouchar and Rafat Alameddine, a boss within the Alameddine crime family. Alameddine is wanted by NSW Police for two murders linked to gang warfare in 2021. Haouchar is currently serving an eight-year sentence in a Beirut court for drug offenses committed while evading Australian authorities.

These alleged Sydney criminals are accused of sending threatening messages, referred to as 'AUS weekly market updates,' to the Sydney underworld. These messages reportedly aimed to dictate the distribution price of cocaine, setting it at $225,000 per kilogram. The rise of Dib's alleged coalition reportedly coincided with the downfall of a rival drug cartel known as "The Commission," whose leader, Alen Moradian, was fatally shot in June 2023.
