A significant faction within Greece's SYRIZA party, led by figures including Pavlos Polakis, is issuing a stark warning against the party's current trajectory, proposing a unified electoral front for progressive forces to avert what they describe as "disgrace and dissolution."

SYRIZA comes from a long way. It has a history, struggles, social references, political memory, and a democratic culture, and a collective path that has been historically recognized by the popular classes.

The proposal, detailed in a statement signed by Polakis and 36 others, emphasizes SYRIZA's rich history and its roots in the broader Greek left. It argues that the party cannot be treated as personal property or a temporary waiting room, stressing its legacy as a collective endeavor aimed at societal change. The current approach, characterized by inaction, internal balancing acts, and a lack of clear public policy initiatives, is deemed ineffective.

If efforts to form a unified slate fail, SYRIZA should still participate alongside progressive forces and individuals who recognize the necessity of such a union.
