Sokratis Famellos, president of SYRIZA, has defended the party's decision to back Alexis Tsipras's initiative aimed at forming a progressive government. Famellos stated that SYRIZA's commitment is to the citizens and their desire for a change in government. He asserted that an independent electoral approach would have been perceived as a failure to contribute to the necessary progressive shift in the country.

He assured that citizens now have a clear stance from SYRIZA-PS, knowing that the party has decided to unite. The goal, he reiterated, is to create a progressive government.
