Sze Fei-Izzuddin Continue Training With BAM Ahead of Asian Games

Malaysian professional badminton duo Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani are set to continue their training alongside players from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). This collaborative training initiative is strategically geared towards their preparation for the upcoming 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

Their coach, Teo Kok Siang, expressed confidence in the benefits of this arrangement, stating that training with BAM's elite athletes has been instrumental in improving Sze Fei-Izzuddin's overall performance. "I feel it helps us a lot to train with high-quality players. I am grateful to BAM for allowing us to spar and play with them," Teo remarked.

The coach confirmed his intention to maintain this training partnership. "My plan is to continue (training there) with them," he said during a recent event at Unifi Arena, Bukit Jalil. This continued collaboration underscores the importance placed on rigorous preparation for major international tournaments.

Teo also addressed Sze Fei-Izzuddin's recent performance at the Singapore Open. He noted the need to readjust the pair's schedule following consecutive semi-final and final appearances, acknowledging potential fatigue after back-to-back tournaments like the Thailand Open and Malaysia Masters. Sze Fei-Izzuddin, seeded eighth at the Singapore Open, was scheduled to face Denmark's Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, ranked 10th in the world.

With a head-to-head record of 2-9 against their Danish opponents, Teo and fellow coach Ameer Amri Zainuddin are working on adapting the pair's playing style to prevent opponents from easily reading their game. This strategic adjustment is crucial as they aim to improve their standing and performance on the international circuit.
