Table Tennis Player Chang Yu-an Makes Surprise Appearance at T.League Opening Match After Injury

Taiwanese table tennis player Chang Yu-an, a new member of Kinoshita Tokyo, unexpectedly appeared at the team's overseas opening match in the T.League to cheer on his teammates. The 20-year-old, ranked 86th in the world, was initially scheduled to compete in the Tashkent Challenger in Uzbekistan this week.

However, Chang sustained a right knee injury during training in Yilan last week. Despite attempting to play through the pain, he lost in the first round of the singles event at the Ulaanbaatar Challenger and subsequently withdrew from the doubles quarterfinals due to the severity of the injury. He also pulled out of the Tashkent Challenger and returned to Taiwan early.

After two days of treatment, Chang's condition improved, allowing him to attend the overseas opening match held in Hsinchu County Stadium. He even assisted as a ball boy during pre-match practice. Witnessing nearly 7,000 fans, Chang expressed his excitement and a desire to play. He anticipates resuming practice next week and is slated to participate in two T.League matches in Japan in September, as well as the European Grand Slam in Sweden in August.
