Tabung Haji board positions not for political rewards, says MP

Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, a Member of Parliament for Port Dickson, has asserted that positions on the board of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) must not be utilized as political patronage or rewards for individuals with political connections. He emphasized that such appointments should prioritize integrity, expertise, and competence.

Aminuddin stressed that TH is an institution entrusted with managing substantial funds on behalf of Malaysian Muslims. Therefore, he argued, the selection process for its board members must be rigorous and focused on qualifications rather than political affiliations. This ensures the institution can effectively and responsibly manage the pilgrims' savings.

The Port Dickson MP also referenced recommendations from a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) that proposed amendments to the relevant governance structures. These recommendations likely aim to strengthen the oversight and operational integrity of Tabung Haji, ensuring it remains a trustworthy financial institution for its depositors.
