Táchira, UCV, and Carabobo start Clausura Tournament's second round with victories

The second round of Venezuela's Liga Futve Clausura tournament kicked off with wins for Deportivo Táchira, Carabobo, and UCV. These three teams defeated Trujillanos, Portuguesa, and Monagas, respectively, in matches played on August 4.

Carabobo, led by Álvaro Recoba, is the sole team to have accumulated six points so far, with four matches in the second round still to be played. Deportivo Táchira added another three points to their tally by defeating Portuguesa 1-0 at the Polideportivo de Pueblo Nuevo stadium. A penalty converted by Rodrigo Pollero in added time of the first half, following a foul on Heiderber Ramírez, secured the win for Táchira.

The reigning champions, Carabobo, returned to winning ways at the Estadio Polideportivo Misael Delgado, beating Trujillanos 2-0. Darwin Machis scored his first goal since returning to Liga Futve, and Joshuan Berríos extended the lead in the second half. This victory marked Carabobo's first win after losing their opening match of the Clausura tournament.

UCV, the current Liga Futve champions, also recovered from an initial setback to win 2-1 against Monagas. After conceding an early goal, UCV scored through Kendrys Silva and Juan Camilo Zapata to secure the victory. The team, managed by Daniel Sasso, ended a streak of three losses, which included two defeats against Santos in the Copa Sudamericana and a loss to Trujillanos in the first round.

The second round continues on August 5 with a match between Deportivo La Guaira and Metropolitanos. The round will conclude on August 6 with games featuring Rayo Zuliano vs. Anzoátegui, Estudiantes de Mérida vs. Zamora, and Academia Puerto Cabello. All matches will be streamed on the Liga Futve YouTube channel.
