Slovenia's Tadej Pogačar has cemented his place in cycling history, winning his fifth Tour de France title on Sunday. This remarkable achievement places him in an elite group alongside Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain, who have also claimed the prestigious race five times.

Pogačar's victory in the 2026 edition marks his third consecutive win, further solidifying his dominance in the sport. He finished ahead of Belgium's Remco Evenepoel, who secured second place overall, and Mexico's Isaac del Toro, who rounded out the podium in third.

The final stage of this year's iconic race saw a deviation from tradition. The route was shortened due to the reallocation of security and police resources to assist in combating wildfires raging in the southwest region of France. Despite the altered circumstances, Pogačar safely navigated the stage to secure his overall victory.
