Taichung Man Arrested for Drunk Driving, Hit-and-Run, and Assaulting Wife Amidst Protection Order Violation

A 26-year-old man in Taichung, Taiwan, faces multiple charges after a series of dangerous actions culminating in his arrest. The incident began when the man, identified by the surname Lin, allegedly drove under the influence of alcohol in a vehicle equipped with counterfeit license plates.

Witnesses reported Lin's vehicle traveling at high speeds, engaging in reckless maneuvers such as drifting and running multiple red lights. The dangerous driving spree ended when Lin crashed into a stone pillar on the roadside in the Xitun District. He then abandoned the damaged vehicle and fled the scene.

Lin's actions did not end with the traffic incident. Shortly after evading the crash site, he violated a protection order by going to his wife's location. The situation escalated further when he allegedly assaulted her. Police apprehended Lin, and prosecutors have successfully sought his pre-trial detention, citing the severity of his alleged offenses, including drunk driving, hit-and-run, and domestic violence.
