Taichung police arrest two suspected drug drivers in separate incidents

Taichung police arrested a 53-year-old man on Thursday for suspected drug-impaired driving after he crashed his BMW into a parked car. The man, identified by his surname Hong, was attempting to park his vehicle when the collision occurred, causing significant damage to the BMW's front end.

Officers arriving at the scene noted Hong appeared disoriented and had a slow reaction time. A saliva test for drugs came back positive. Police found an electronic cigarette device and an Etonitazene cartridge in the car. Hong was arrested on charges of endangering public safety and drug offenses.

This incident followed another suspected drug-driving case in the same city late Wednesday night. A 40-year-old man, identified as Su, crashed his car into a bridge pier, deploying the airbags. Su claimed he was drowsy from sleeping pills, but a drug test was positive. He was also arrested and faces charges of endangering public safety and drug offenses.
