Taichung's Shuinan Transfer Center to Open August 5 with 100% Solar Roof

Taichung's Shuinan Transfer Center is set to open on August 5, the city's transportation bureau announced on Facebook. The center, a four-story structure above ground and three below, is designed to accommodate future connections with the MRT Green Line and National Freeway No. 1. It will feature 12 bus berths, 42 national highway bus berths, and 278 low-carbon vehicle parking spaces, encouraging green transportation. Additionally, nearly 2,500 parking spots will be available for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles.

The Shuinan Transfer Center is notable for being the first in Taichung to incorporate a 100% solar-powered roof. The design also includes a ventilation system for the bus berths to reduce emissions from idling buses. Adjustable louvers will provide ventilation in the summer and block cold winds in the winter, while open-air driveways are designed to quickly dissipate exhaust fumes.

The opening of the transfer center is highly anticipated by residents, as it is located near other recently opened facilities such as the Taichung Public Library's Shuinan Branch (Green Library), the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center, and the Central Park, which frequently hosts events. The new center aims to improve convenience for commuters and travelers.
