Taichung's student "Frog Buses" to suspend service during summer vacation

Students in Taichung will see their specialized "Frog Bus" services temporarily suspended during the summer break. The Taichung City Transportation Bureau announced that routes 200, 500, 700, and 900, known as "Frog Express Buses," will cease operations from July 1 to August 28.

These express bus routes were specifically designed to cater to students, offering fewer stops and more frequent departures to shorten commute times to and from school. The service has been highly praised by students for its efficiency and convenience, becoming a popular choice for daily school travel.

The decision to suspend the services is based on the reduced demand during the summer vacation period. The transportation bureau noted that while these routes operate with increased frequency during peak school hours on weekdays, their usage significantly drops on holidays and during extended breaks like summer vacation.

Adjustments will also be made to other related services, including interval buses, extended routes, and detours, with some being adjusted or temporarily halted. A summer schedule will be in effect for any remaining services. The full resumption of all "Frog Express Bus" routes and associated services is scheduled for August 31, coinciding with the beginning of the new academic semester.

To encourage students to use public transportation more for commuting to and from school, the Transportation Bureau provides Frog buses with fewer transfers and high ridership, meeting the increasing convenience needs of students.
