Taichung Water湳 Transit Center Bidding Successful, Eyes August Opening

The Taichung Water湳 Transit Center has successfully passed its bidding phase, moving closer to its anticipated opening. Taichung City Transportation Bureau Director Ye Zhaofu announced that the center is on track for a phased launch as early as August.

Once the evaluation of the winning bidder is complete, interior renovations can commence. The initial phase will see the opening of the underground parking facilities, which include 614 car spaces, 1,253 motorcycle spaces, and 604 bicycle spaces. Additionally, the ground-floor bus platforms, with 12 bays for city buses, will also become operational.

This phased opening aims to alleviate parking issues for visitors to the nearby Water湳 International Convention Center, Green Library, and Central Park. While the underground parking and city bus platforms are set to open first, the upper floors, including national highway bus platforms and commercial spaces, will open later as tenants complete their setups. The entire project, costing NT$4.615 billion, was completed in late February.

The overall construction of the Water湳 Transit Center has been completed. The current focus is on the interior renovation by the selected vendors. If the evaluation is successful, the underground parking lot is expected to open first in August.
