Taipower Confirms: Residential Users Can Earn Golden Points by Saving Electricity to Offset Bills

Residents in Taiwan can now earn rewards for conserving electricity, as confirmed by the Taiwan Power Company (Taipower). The initiative allows users to accumulate "golden points" which can then be used to reduce their monthly electricity bills.

Taipower explained that customers can join various energy-saving activities by accessing the "Power as Points" section within the official Taipower mobile application. The program aims to encourage energy conservation while providing a tangible financial benefit to households.

Several activities are available through the app. The "Home Energy Saving Prediction" requires users to forecast their electricity consumption, aiming for a usage below 95% of the previous year's同期. The "Energy Saving Day Challenge" rewards users for successfully reducing consumption during specific periods, though this is limited to users with AMI smart meters and stable communication. The "Golden Point Energy Saving" activity grants points to users whose current electricity usage is lower than the same period last year.

According to Taipower, 100 golden points are equivalent to a NT$1 discount on electricity bills. The company highlights that saving energy not only contributes to carbon reduction efforts but also helps households save money. They encourage users to download the Taipower app to cultivate good energy-saving habits.
