Tainan Communities Shine in National Anti-Violence Drama Competition

Two communities in Tainan have earned accolades in a national drama competition aimed at preventing gender-based violence. The event, organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, saw communities use theatrical performances to raise awareness about crucial social issues.

Huanhu Community Development Association in Danei District secured third place in the senior group. Their performance creatively depicted the journey of rural women towards gender equality, integrating local characteristics into their narrative. Meanwhile, Minrong Community Development Association in Xinying District received an honorable mention in the novice group for their compelling presentation on child online safety and the prevention of sexual exploitation.

These achievements highlight Tainan's ongoing commitment to promoting gender equality and preventing violence. Since 2016, the city has actively supported community-based primary prevention efforts, training local organizations and advocates. This initiative has led to 72 community organizations and 106 prevention advocates being certified, reaching into 270 villages and promoting awareness through diverse and innovative methods.

The social affairs bureau emphasized that these efforts aim to enhance citizens' ability to recognize, care for, and seek help regarding gender-based violence. By integrating the concept of "zero tolerance for violence" into daily life, Tainan strives to create a safer environment for all its residents.

Currently, Tainan has guided 72 community organizations and cultivated 106 community anti-violence speakers (teachers) to engage in primary prevention work for gender-based violence, deeply promoting publicity in 270 villages and towns.
