Tainan Fish Farm Disaster Losses: Cash Assistance Applications Open

Continuous heavy rainfall has caused significant damage to fish farms in Tainan. In response, the Ministry of Agriculture has officially designated Tainan City as an area eligible for cash assistance and low-interest loans related to agricultural natural disasters that occurred in late August.

The application period for this aid begins on August 26 and will continue until September 8. The assistance specifically targets "fish farm aquaculture" across all species. Farmers whose losses are verified to be at least 20% will qualify for the cash relief, with the amount determined by the Ministry of Agriculture's announced rates.

Feng Hsiang-yung, Director of the Bureau of Agriculture, stated that the scope covers all types of fish farm aquaculture in Tainan. The bureau, along with district offices, will actively process applications, assess damage, and review cases to ensure eligible farmers receive timely assistance, easing the burden of recovery and restocking.

To apply, eligible farmers must provide identification, a seal, a copy of their bank passbook, their aquaculture registration certificate, proof of stocking for the current season, and photographic evidence of the damage. Farmers are urged to document the damage thoroughly before cleaning up or restocking to aid in the assessment process. Applications for low-interest loans require a disaster certificate issued by the district office, followed by an application to the credit departments of agricultural or fishery associations within 30 working days.
