Tainan launches 'Send Love to Kumamoto' campaign with prayer walls

Tainan, Taiwan – In a gesture of solidarity, Tainan City has initiated a "Send Love to Kumamoto" campaign, establishing prayer walls across 12 farmers' association supermarkets to collect messages of support for Japan's earthquake-stricken Kumamoto Prefecture.

The initiative, part of a broader disaster relief effort, invites residents to write down their blessings and encouragement for the people of Kumamoto. This follows a magnitude 7.1 earthquake that impacted the region on July 28.

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che highlighted the long-standing close ties between Tainan and Kumamoto in areas such as culture, education, tourism, and agriculture. "Facing the disaster in Kumamoto, we hope that by setting up prayer walls and providing donation information, we can accompany Kumamoto through its reconstruction with the sincere blessings and care of the people of Tainan, continuing the precious friendship between our two cities," he stated.

The prayer walls are located in farmers' association supermarkets in various districts of Tainan. Alongside the messages of goodwill, information about Tainan City's "0728 Japan Kumamoto Disaster Relief Donation Account" is also available, encouraging financial contributions to aid in the reconstruction process. The campaign aims to channel the warmth of Tainan's residents into tangible support for Kumamoto's recovery.
