TAISEC Provides Emergency Slope Protection After Xizhi Landslide

Taiwan Fertilizer Company (TAISEC) is stepping in to provide emergency slope protection following a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in Xizhi District, New Taipei City. The incident, which occurred on June 25th, involved the slippage of structures near Sanmin Street, prompting TAISEC to act swiftly to ensure public safety.

Despite the complexity of the land ownership in the affected area and the fact that the slipped structures were not TAISEC property, the company has committed to undertaking slope safety protection measures. This proactive approach aims to prevent future hazards and safeguard the lives and property of residents in the vicinity.

Following a joint site inspection involving the Xizhi District Office, TAISEC, local representatives, residents, and professional engineers, TAISEC pledged full assistance and acceptance of responsibility for disaster mitigation. The company is actively supporting affected residents and has already initiated emergency protective measures, including sandbag placement and covering the area with waterproof tarpaulins to contain the damage.

Engineers have assessed the slope as potentially hazardous, recommending the evacuation of five households. TAISEC is expediting efforts to address the situation and ensure the safety of the area. The company's response underscores a commitment to community welfare, even when the direct cause of the disaster does not involve their own infrastructure.
