Taitung Agriculture Officials Investigated for Alleged Corruption in Road Widening Project

Officials from Taitung County's Agriculture Department are under investigation for allegedly using public funds to benefit a resort development project. The case centers on the widening of an agricultural road from three meters to fifteen meters, a move that has raised suspicions of corruption and favoritism.

Independent Taitung County Councilor Lin San-tien first raised accusations in May, alleging that the county government was paving a wide road for a resort invested in by a "Wu family." He further claimed that the project utilized state-owned land without proper action from the National Property Administration.

Following Lin's complaint, the Taitung County Investigation Station launched a search of the Agriculture Department. The department's director, deputy director, and the section chief responsible at the time were taken in for questioning. The investigation is proceeding as a corruption case, with five individuals currently listed as defendants.
