Husband's Cold Response to Wife's Murder by Father-in-Law Sparks Outrage in Taiwan

A brutal murder in New Taipei City has ignited public fury after the victim's family revealed alleged long-term abuse and neglect. The 34-year-old woman was reportedly hacked to death by her father-in-law on July 26. Her family claims she endured constant financial exploitation and verbal abuse from her father-in-law, who allegedly lacked stable employment and treated her as a personal ATM.

Adding to the tragedy, the victim's husband is accused of neglecting their four-year-old daughter and engaging in an extramarital affair. He reportedly moved to Taichung, working in real estate and later at an arcade, where he met a younger woman. Despite knowledge of his infidelity, his family allegedly sided with him, accusing the victim of having affairs.

The situation escalated when the victim, determined to divorce her husband and escape the toxic family environment, was allegedly killed by her father-in-law. He reportedly stated that his father had no mental health issues but that he could not control his father's actions, as "hands are not on my body."
