Taiwan braces for heavy rain in south, thunderstorms in north on Friday

Taiwan is bracing for unstable weather on Friday, with the southern part of the island expected to endure continuous and intense rainfall. The Meteorological Agency forecasts that localized heavy downpours are possible, with the rain being both sudden and severe.

While the south faces persistent rain, the northern and eastern regions will experience partly sunny conditions during the day. However, residents and travelers in mountainous areas are advised to exercise caution due to the risk of heavy rain.

Temperatures across Taiwan will remain high, generally ranging from 32 to 35 degrees Celsius. Some areas, including parts of Taipei, Changhua, and the southeast, could see temperatures soar to 36 degrees Celsius or above. This heat necessitates precautions against sun exposure and dehydration.

The prevailing southwest winds are expected to strengthen, contributing to the rainfall in central and southern Taiwan. In contrast, the north and east will see scattered afternoon thunderstorms. The weather is predicted to remain unsettled through the weekend, although temperatures may slightly decrease.
