Taiwan Issues High-Temperature Warning for Seven Counties Amid Heatwave

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration issued a high-temperature advisory for seven counties and cities on August 13, with some areas facing the risk of continuous temperatures reaching 36 degrees Celsius or higher.

Taipei, New Taipei, Changhua, and Taitung were placed under an orange alert, indicating a high probability of sustained heat. Meanwhile, Keelung, Yilan, and Hualien were issued a yellow alert, signifying temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius or above.

The administration strongly advised the public to limit non-essential outdoor activities and strenuous exercise. Key recommendations include wearing sun protection, drinking plenty of water, and being vigilant for signs of heatstroke. Indoor environments should be kept ventilated and cool, with methods like fanning or using ice packs suggested for personal and environmental cooling.

Special attention is urged for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, children, individuals with chronic illnesses, the obese, those on medication, and outdoor workers or athletes. These groups are particularly at risk and should take extra precautions to avoid high temperatures.
