Taiwan Braces for Unstable Weather as Low-Pressure System Lingers

Taiwan is set for a week of unpredictable weather as a low-pressure system dominates the region from Sunday through next Friday. The Central Weather Administration has warned that forecasting will be challenging due to the system's influence.

Residents across the island should prepare for localized short-term showers and thunderstorms. The southern and central parts of Taiwan are particularly at risk of heavy rainfall, especially in the afternoons. The weather agency also cautioned about potential heavy downpours in mountainous areas of the central and northern regions, urging vigilance against landslides, falling rocks, and flash floods.

Despite the rain, temperatures are expected to remain high. Southern Taiwan and Taitung could see highs of 31-32°C, while other areas may reach 33-35°C. Parts of the greater Taipei and Taoyuan areas could even experience temperatures exceeding 36°C. The public is advised to take precautions against the strong ultraviolet radiation by using sunscreen and staying hydrated.

Two typhoons, Etu and Banglang, are currently distant and pose no direct threat to Taiwan. Air quality is generally good across the island due to the cleansing effect of rainfall, with most areas rated "good" and only a few, like the northern region and Kinmen, rated "moderate."
