Taiwan Cheers 2026 FIFA World Cup: MOD, Hami Video Viewership Hits New Highs

Chunghwa Telecom's platforms, MOD and Hami Video, have set new viewership records in Taiwan for their broadcast of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The entire 104-match tournament was streamed live, culminating in a spectacular finish with Spain's victory.

The broadcast achieved significant milestones, including a more than 40% increase in peak concurrent users on Hami Video's paid membership compared to the previous tournament. Overall site traffic on Hami Video also saw a substantial rise of over 80%, and subscriptions for daily internet data plans grew by an impressive 4.9 times.

Innovative features like dynamic radar angles and highlight replays were introduced, enhancing the viewing experience. Messi's hat-trick on June 17, his seventh goal of the tournament on July 4, and Neymar's penalty on July 6 were the most-watched highlights, contributing to a more than 50% increase in total viewership over the last World Cup. The dynamic radar view alone accounted for approximately one-third of all viewership, marking it as the most successful international event broadcast in Chunghwa Telecom's history.
