Taiwan Closes Section of National Freeway No. 1 Southbound Overnight for Construction

A significant section of National Freeway No. 1 (Guo 1) southbound in Taiwan will be temporarily closed to facilitate crucial construction work. The National Freeway Bureau's Second Southern Construction Office has announced that the stretch between the Toufen and Touwu interchanges will be shut down on the night of August 27th, from 10 PM until 6 AM the following morning.

The closure is part of the 'Guo 1 Toufen Interchange Expansion Project,' which involves the renovation of a box culvert and subsequent road surface work, including asphalt paving, lane marking, and the installation of guide rails. After the 6 AM reopening on August 28th, the road configuration will be adjusted with the three existing lanes being shifted to the left.

During the traffic control period, drivers heading south on Guo 1 are advised to exit at the Toufen Interchange. From there, they should turn left onto Provincial Highway No. 1 (Zongguan Highway) and then connect to Provincial Highway No. 13 (Jianfeng Highway) to re-enter the freeway at the Touwu Interchange.

Authorities have stated that the closure may be postponed in case of rain, with any rescheduled dates to be announced separately.
