Taiwan detects 14 Chinese military aircraft, 6 warships near island

Taiwan's military reported on August 8 that it detected 14 Chinese military aircraft and six warships operating in the vicinity of the island between the morning of August 7 and the morning of August 8. Eleven of the Chinese aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering Taiwan's northern and southwestern airspaces.

The Ministry of National Defense stated that the military closely monitored and responded to the incursions using its own aircraft, ships, and shore-based missile systems. The detected Chinese activity included six main combat aircraft and drones that encroached upon Taiwan's western airspace, with three of them crossing the median line. Additionally, eight Chinese main combat aircraft, drones, and helicopters entered Taiwan's southwestern airspace.

This latest report of Chinese military activity follows a pattern of increased incursions into Taiwan's air defense identification zone and surrounding waters. Taiwan maintains a high state of readiness and regularly reports on such activities to highlight perceived threats to its security.
