Taiwan Highway 16 section to close for landslide repairs June 22-July 19

A crucial section of Provincial Highway 16 in Nantou County, Taiwan, will be closed to traffic for 28 days to undergo landslide repair work. The closure, affecting the Minhe section at kilometer 24, will be in effect from June 22 to July 19. This road is a vital link connecting Shuili Township and Xinyi Township. The Nantou maintenance office stated that the repair work on the retaining wall of the lower slope at the Minhe section requires the use of construction machinery, which will occupy the roadway and make safe passage impossible. During the closure, vehicles traveling between Shuili Township and Minhe Village, as well as Xinyi Township's Zhitai, Shuanglong, and Tannan villages, will be directed to use the Renhe-Boshi connecting road. Vehicles traveling between Shuili Township's Dingkan Village and Dawun community will still be able to access the road up to kilometer 23, which is unaffected by the closure. Residents and travelers are advised to pay attention to the temporary traffic arrangements.
