Taiwan Invites 15 Nations' Officials for Study Tour; TSMC Innovation Hall a Highlight

Taiwan's Ministry of Education is hosting 34 government officials from 15 European nations for a 12-day study tour aimed at fostering educational exchange and showcasing the island's prowess in AI education and semiconductor technology. The program, which began in August, includes Mandarin language classes, cultural experiences, and meetings with key Taiwanese ministries and local government.

A significant highlight of the tour is the visit to TSMC's Innovation Hall, offering participants a firsthand look at Taiwan's advanced semiconductor industry and talent development strategies. This initiative seeks to build upon existing partnerships and expand cooperation between Taiwan and Europe across various sectors, including education, politics, economy, and culture.

We hope that through this visit to Taiwan, European officials can gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan's development in economy and trade, scientific research, education and culture, and continue to expand Taiwan-Europe cooperation opportunities on the basis of the existing partnership.

Officials expressed particular interest in Taiwan's application of AI in education during face-to-face exchanges. The program, facilitated by National Chung Cheng University, also features specialized lectures and courses on education, politics, economy, and socio-cultural topics. The Ministry of Education plans to continue expanding its educational exchange network with European countries to strengthen bilateral relationships.

Jan De Craemer, an advisor from Belgium's Flemish region, noted the value of the interactions, stating that the knowledge gained and connections made are precious. He expressed a desire to continue expanding these exchanges upon returning to Europe. The initiative underscores Taiwan's commitment to leveraging educational diplomacy to deepen its ties with European nations.

This study tour has given members the opportunity to interact with officials from various ministries in Taiwan, to gain a further understanding of Taiwan's systems, as well as artificial intelligence, smart cities, education and technological economic development; the knowledge gained and the interpersonal connections established during the study tour are very precious, and we hope to continue to expand the results of the exchanges after returning to Europe.
