Taiwan Issues Heavy Rain Warnings for Six Central Counties Amid Thunderstorm Threat

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration has issued severe weather warnings for six central counties, anticipating heavy rainfall and torrential downpours. The agency issued the alerts on Tuesday afternoon, highlighting the potential for intense, short-duration rainfall due to developing convective clouds.

Localized torrential downpours are specifically forecast for the mountainous regions of Nantou, Miaoli, Taichung, Yunlin, and Chiayi. The plains area of Nantou is also included in the heavy rain warning. Residents in these areas are urged to be vigilant against lightning strikes and strong gusts of wind.

Given the recent continuous rainfall, the administration emphasized the risks of landslides, falling rocks, and sudden rises in river water levels in mountainous areas. Low-lying regions are also at risk of flash flooding. The warnings come as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety amidst the volatile weather conditions.
