Taiwan Launches AI Demo Day to Boost Service Industry Applications

Taiwan's Digital Industry Development Administration has launched a series of "AI Demo Day" events to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence in the service sector. The initiative aims to help AI service providers expand their market opportunities by connecting them with businesses seeking innovative solutions.

The first event, held in Taipei, focused on "Deepening Customer Engagement with AI to Create New Service Value." It showcased solutions from eight AI service providers targeting industries reliant on customer interaction, such as beauty salons, pet grooming, tutoring centers, and hospitality. The event facilitated product demonstrations, networking, and one-on-one matchmaking, attracting over 80 businesses.

The government is promoting the development of the AI industry, not only to enhance the technical capabilities of information service providers but also to promote the real-world application of AI services.

Chen Hui-min, deputy director of the Digital Industry Development Administration, highlighted that AI is a crucial tool for service industries facing challenges like changing consumer habits and labor shortages. The government is supporting AI development through five key policy tools: computing power, data, talent, marketing, and funding, to foster AI application development, productization, and market expansion.

Future "AI Demo Day" events will cover various sectors including tourism, cultural and creative industries, sports, and travel. By collaborating with industry associations, the administration seeks to help AI service providers develop scalable products and enable small and medium-sized enterprises to more easily understand and implement AI. The goal is to create a mutually beneficial AI application ecosystem.
