Taiwan Launches First National Space Innovation Accelerator in Hsinchu, Aims to Build Startup Hub with Science Park Linkage

Taiwan has officially entered the commercial space race with the launch of its first national-level space innovation accelerator, TASA iSPARK, in Hsinchu. The facility, located at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University's Po Ai Campus, aims to foster a thriving space startup ecosystem.

Premier Cho Jung-tai, who attended the inauguration, highlighted the rapid global growth of the space industry, particularly in low-orbit satellites, satellite communications, and Earth observation. He stressed that Taiwan's existing strengths in semiconductors, ICT, precision manufacturing, and electronics supply chains provide a solid foundation for developing competitive space products and services. TASA iSPARK is designed to bridge the gap between technical validation and market application, positioning Taiwan as a potential future economic powerhouse.

The base will introduce domestic and foreign accelerators and incubation resources to assist in the commercialization and industrialization of technology, and drive cross-disciplinary enterprises and SMEs to invest in the space industry, building a complete and resilient supply chain.

The accelerator is envisioned as a market-oriented hub that combines technical verification with international linkages. It will integrate resources from the National Space Organization and industry partners to offer services such as technical guidance, testing support, investment matching, and international collaboration. This initiative seeks to transform Taiwan's technological achievements into tangible market successes.

Officials emphasized that TASA iSPARK will attract domestic and international accelerators and incubation resources to facilitate the commercialization of technology. It aims to encourage cross-disciplinary enterprises and SMEs to participate in the space sector, thereby building a resilient and comprehensive supply chain. The launch signifies Taiwan's determined stride towards a commercialized space industry with a complete industrial ecosystem.
