Taiwan Launches Tender for National Children's Future Museum

Taiwan's Ministry of Culture has officially announced the tender for the National Children's Future Museum, marking a significant step towards the physical construction of this national cultural landmark. Located in New Taipei City's Banqiao Station area, the museum is poised to become Taiwan's first national-level cultural venue dedicated to children.

The project, a collaboration between Taiwanese architects Chang Mar-lung and Chen Yu-lin, and Japanese architect Toyo Ito, has completed its fundamental design, detailed design, and urban design review processes. The museum will span approximately 2.8 hectares with a building area of about 28,000 pings (roughly 92,500 square meters). The design integrates elements of nature, ecology, art, technology, and play, aiming to provide an exploratory, educational, and interactive public cultural space.

Minister of Culture Lee Yung-te emphasized the museum's importance as a major cultural initiative for New Taipei City and Taiwan, underscoring the government's commitment to children, youth, and cultural development. He encouraged qualified engineering teams to participate in the bidding process to help realize this child-centric cultural facility.

The total budget for the construction is NT$9.54 billion, with the National Land Management Agency acting as the代辦 (agent). The tender, officially announced on the government's electronic procurement network, closes on September 22. Concurrently, a separate tender for the planning and design of the museum's permanent exhibition experience is also open, inviting domestic teams to contribute to bringing the blueprints to life.

The National Children's Future Museum is envisioned as a vital cultural hub that will accompany future generations, fostering growth through a blend of culture, education, and innovative experiences. It is strategically situated near major transportation hubs, ensuring accessibility for families and visitors.
