Taiwan Lawmaker Shares Qixi Festival Photo with Documentary Director Husband

Taiwanese legislator and New Taipei mayoral candidate Su Chiao-hui celebrated Qixi Festival, also known as Chinese Valentine's Day, by sharing a photo with her husband, documentary director Lung Nan-I-saak Vanas. The couple's shared post highlighted their complementary careers and mutual support.

Su, a member of the Democratic Progressive Party, posted the image on her social media, reflecting on their journey together. She described their professional paths as seemingly different, one making films, the other serving the public, but fundamentally the same. Both, she explained, involve gathering a team of professionals to execute tasks effectively and then sharing the story of Taiwan with the global audience.

The couple's story began in 2006 when both were studying in the United States. Su was pursuing law on the East Coast, while Lung was studying film in Texas. She assisted him with his graduation film project, marking the start of their long-standing partnership. Twenty years later, Lung has directed "The Road to Championship," a documentary celebrating Taiwanese baseball's glory, while Su continues her work for New Taipei.

Su expressed her well wishes for everyone to find their best life partner, drawing from her own experience with Lung. Their collaboration, she suggested, exemplifies how different talents can unite to tell a compelling story about their homeland.
