Taiwan Legislator Accuses Rival's Supporter of Assault; Candidate Calls for Investigation

Taiwanese legislator Yeh Yuan-chih has accused a supporter of rival New Taipei City mayoral candidate Su Chiao-hui of assaulting his assistant during a campaign event. The incident allegedly occurred while Yeh was campaigning with Kuomintang candidate Lee Chih-chiang in Banqiao.

Responding to the accusations, Su Chiao-hui stated that violence is unacceptable and condemned the alleged assault. She emphasized that the video footage of the market clash did not show any political slogans or behavior. Su urged the police to investigate the incident thoroughly to uncover the truth.

Yesterday in the video footage, we actually didn't see any political slogans or behavior, so we hope the police can quickly intervene and investigate to restore the facts.

Su also addressed Yeh's claims that her policy proposals were unoriginal, asserting that her achievements were the result of diligent, step-by-step efforts. She cited specific projects, including the Beidai Special District Post Office, the Jincheng Interchange, and advancements in the MRT Sanxing and Wanta lines, as evidence of her contributions to the constituency.
