Taiwan People's Party celebrates 7th anniversary, emphasizes unity and KMT cooperation

Taiwan's Taiwan People's Party (TPP) convened its third national congress and celebrated its seventh anniversary in Taichung on August 2. The event marked the return of former party chairman Ko Wen-je to the party's anniversary celebrations, following his involvement in a previous scandal. Party chairman Huang Kuo-chang addressed the media, highlighting the TPP's resilience amidst external scrutiny and what he described as "overwhelming attacks" from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party. He urged party members to unite and support candidates in upcoming local elections, asserting that the party's actions have proven its capability and growing strength. Huang also confirmed the attendance of Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen at the anniversary event. He noted that the TPP maintains close communication with Lu on various national policies and expressed confidence in closer cooperation with the Kuomintang (KMT) in both local elections and national policy matters. The TPP's anniversary celebration in Taichung underscores its efforts to consolidate its political standing and foster inter-party collaboration.
