Taiwan Railways to Add 110 Services During Double Ten Holiday, Bookings Open Sept. 8

Taiwan Railways will add 110 services across its network during the five-day Double Ten holiday, running from Oct. 8 through Oct. 12.

The added trains include nine services for the National Day fireworks, four named-reservation services on the eastern line, five north-south cross-line Tze-Chiang Limited Express services, seven south-north cross-line services and two western-line north-central direct services.

Western-line EMU3000 trains will suspend unreserved seating during the holiday period. Instead, each train will sell a limited 200 standing tickets on the day of travel. Passengers will not be allowed to enter Car 6, the Tengyun premium cabin.

Bookings for the additional services will open simultaneously at midnight on Sept. 8 through the Taiwan Railways website, the Taiwan Railways e-booking app, convenience stores and telephone voice reservations. Passengers can collect tickets at station counters or ticket machines, or through the app.

Taiwan Railways will also suspend sales of family-carriage tickets from Oct. 8 to 12 and sell those seats as regular-carriage tickets. Reservations for the four named-reservation eastern-line trains will open at midnight on Sept. 9 for people registered in Hualien or Taitung, as well as their spouses and first-degree lineal relatives, under the eligibility rules specified by the railway company.
