Taiwan Recruits Youth for Agricultural Exchange Program in Netherlands

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching an initiative to foster international agricultural ties by sending young professionals to the Netherlands. The ministry announced it is seeking 16 participants aged 18 to 45 with expertise in agriculture and animal husbandry for the "Agricultural Youth Ambassador Exchange Program."

This marks the first time the program will visit the Netherlands, featuring an eight-day itinerary of field visits and in-depth exchanges. The application period is open from now until September 6. The ministry encourages outstanding young individuals from all agricultural sectors to apply.

Since its inception in 2017, the Agricultural Youth Ambassador Exchange Program has successfully sent over 100 young Taiwanese agricultural professionals to countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, India, and Australia. Starting this year, the program's scope is expanding to include like-minded countries and diplomatic allies as part of a broader foreign policy framework.

The upcoming trip to the Netherlands aims to facilitate exchanges between young Taiwanese farmers and Dutch agricultural industry, government, and academic representatives. The focus will be on strengthening cooperation in areas such as floriculture, protected agriculture, livestock farming, and fruit and vegetable marketing. This initiative is expected to lay a solid foundation for Taiwan's agricultural diplomacy.
