These failures resulted in cooking oil products exceeding the permissible levels of benzopyrene.

In a tragic incident in Yunlin County, a 17-year-old vocational high school student died after being struck by a car while cycling. The driver, identified as a local resident with a suspended license due to multiple prior drunk driving offenses, fled the scene. The driver allegedly dragged the victim from the car, abandoned him, removed the license plate, and falsely reported the vehicle as stolen in an attempt to evade responsibility. Police investigations, aided by surveillance footage, confirmed the driver was unlicensed and intoxicated at the time of the collision. The case has been transferred to the prosecutor's office, and the suspect has been detained.
