Taiwan's Hope Children's Choir wins 3 top awards in European competition

The "Hope Children's Choir," hailing from the indigenous communities of Pingtung, Taiwan, has achieved remarkable international success, clinching three top awards at the 2026 5th Budapest International Choir Competition in Europe. The choir's beautiful voices captivated judges, earning them the highest honors in the Youth Female Voice, Folk Song, and Sacred Music categories.

Their journey to international acclaim was made possible through the support of Federal Bank and the Federal Cultural and Educational Foundation. These organizations initiated a fundraising campaign that garnered contributions from hundreds of individuals and corporations, enabling the young singers to compete on the global stage without financial worries. The choir's success is a testament to the collective support from various sectors of society.

To express gratitude for the public's support and to share their triumph, Federal Bank is hosting a "Hope Children's Choir Honor Concert" on July 29th. The free event will take place at the first-floor atrium of the Liberty Square Building in Taipei's Neihu District from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. For those unable to attend in person, the concert will also be live-streamed on the Federal Bank YouTube channel.

The choir is set to perform seven selected pieces, showcasing a diverse repertoire that includes traditional indigenous Paiwan songs like "Luanimai" and "Heiyuin," classic Taiwanese folk songs such as "Tian Wu Wu" and "Yi De Chao Mi Xiang," and international pieces like the Hungarian composition "Cantemus." These performances aim to convey the rich cultural heritage of their homeland and the universal language of music.
