Taiwan Sends Drone Expert, Youth Ambassadors to Palau and Caribbean Allies

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially launched its 2026 International Youth Ambassador Exchange Program, dispatching two distinct delegations to engage with diplomatic allies. The initiative underscores Taiwan's commitment to cultural and technological diplomacy.

Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung announced that for the first time, a young drone expert will be part of the delegation traveling to Palau. This inclusion highlights Taiwan's innovative spirit and its growing prowess in technology. Another delegation will journey to Taiwan's Caribbean allies, focusing on exchanges in culture and education to strengthen bilateral ties.

This year, for the first time, a young drone expert has been invited to join the program, combining technology with youth diplomacy to showcase Taiwan's innovation and creativity.

Lin emphasized that diplomacy is a collective effort, with "everyone being a diplomat." He noted that Taiwan's contributions to the world often occur quietly, through long-term partnerships that improve lives, build resilience, and foster shared prosperity. He encouraged the youth ambassadors to represent Taiwan with confidence, humility, and creativity, sharing Taiwan's story of freedom, democracy, and innovation.

Diplomacy does not always happen in the spotlight. Taiwan's most meaningful contributions often occur quietly in fields, clinics, classrooms, or local communities, improving lives, strengthening resilience, and sharing prosperity through long-term, trusting partnerships.

The program involves two main missions: one to the Pacific ally Palau, and another to the Caribbean allies of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and St. Kitts and Nevis. The newly established "Taiwan International Youth Ambassador Association" will accompany the youth ambassadors. Additionally, the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), celebrating its 30th anniversary, is launching its own "Campus Ambassador" program, sending students to witness Taiwan's foreign aid efforts firsthand in allies like St. Lucia and Eswatini.
